Counselling for Adults
Life can bring all sorts of challenges, and sometimes things can feel difficult to manage on your own. Whether you're going through a difficult time, feeling stuck or simply trying to make sense of things, having someone to talk to can make a difference. At Earth and Mind Therapy, adults are offered a welcoming and supportive space to explore what's going on in their lives, talk through their thoughts and feelings and take some time for themselves.
Understanding you
Everyone has their own story, and there is no right or wrong reason to come to counselling. You might have something specific on your mind, or you may find it difficult to explain exactly how you're feeling. Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed by everyday life, relationships or experiences from the past. Having the opportunity to talk things through can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and what's happening around you.
What can counselling help with?
There are lots of reasons someone might come to counselling. Some of these might include: Anxiety and worries Health anxiety Low mood and depression Confidence and self-esteem Relationships and friendships Family difficulties Work-related stress Childhood experiences Past experiences and difficult memories Life changes and transitions Feeling overwhelmed or stuck Negative thoughts and difficult feelings Everyone's experiences are different, and this list is just a starting point.
Having someone to talk to
Sometimes it can be difficult to open up to the people around us, or we might not want to worry those closest to us. Counselling gives you the opportunity to talk openly about whatever might be on your mind. You don't need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to start. We can take things one step at a time, exploring your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels right for you.
Neurodiversity
Everyone experiences the world differently. For neurodivergent adults, everyday experiences, relationships and situations can sometimes bring their own challenges. Having a space where you feel understood and where your individual experiences are recognised can be important. Counselling can offer an opportunity to explore these experiences without feeling you need to explain or justify yourself.
A space for you
Life can often feel busy, and it's easy to put everyone else's needs before your own. Counselling offers time for you to focus on yourself, reflect on what's happening and explore what might help moving forward. There is no expectation to have all the answers. Sometimes having the space to talk and feel heard is a good place to start.
Taking the first step
Finding the right counsellor is important. Whether you have been thinking about counselling for a while or are just starting to explore your options, getting in touch is a good place to start. You don't need to know exactly what you want to talk about. Sometimes taking that first step is enough.
